Nudi Rock

Nudi Rock got its name from the rock feature above the water that looks like a Nudibranch. This one-of-a-kind feature adds a fun touch to a dive that is already very beautiful.

Overview

Nudi Rock is a beautiful place to dive in Misool, Raja Ampat. It got its name from the rock feature above the water that looks like a Nudibranch. This one-of-a-kind feature adds a fun touch to a dive that is already very beautiful.

The Topography

There are a bunch of very small islands east of Misool’s Fiabacet island that make up this area, with Nudi Rock being about mid way. Below the surface, divers can see a variety of landscapes, such as steep vertical walls, sloping reefs, and small pinnacles.

All of these are full of life and make ideal habitats for many different kinds of marine animals.

The Marine Animal

There is a lot of different kinds of marine life here. Watch out for Barracuda schools, Giant Trevally on the hunt, and Grey Reef Sharks cruising the depths. And if you’re really lucky, you might even see an Oceanic Manta Ray having a clean at one of the cleaning stations.

There is also a lot of macro life at the spot. Pygmy Seahorses hide in the corals, Porcelain Crabs scamper around, and many species of Snappers, Groupers, and the beautiful Napoleon Wrasse can be seen. Turtles also come here often, which adds to the beauty of the place.

The Diving

The dive starts with a descent to a depth of up to 28 metres. From this depth, rises a coral ridge that links to Tank Rock, which is nearby. The northern side has a steep vertical wall covered in bright soft corals. The southern side changes into a slope that is about 7 to 8 metres deep.

If there is a current running through, this plateau is a great place for groups of fish to gather. Because the currents are moderate to strong, you should bring a reef hook to hold on to a rocky part of the plateau while you enjoy the stunning views.

As we explore the different depths, we’ll see a wide range of coral formations and a rainbow of colours that make this dive spot unique.

Near the end of the dive, we’ll go up to a depth of 5 to 10 metres, where the light is bright and beautiful, bringing more marine life to the small reefs. Snorkelers can also have a great time at Nudi Rock because it has small areas at shallow depth with lots of coral and fish life.

This amazing dive site is great for everyone. Nudi Rock is a highlight of any trip to Raja Ampat because it has something for every diver. It combines exciting pelagic encounters with beautiful macro experiences.
